Success Stories

Memphis (Hound Blend) was adopted in April 2008
“We just got a letter from his family and they said that a couple nights he woke them up by tugging at their clothes and crying and whining. They woke up to the smell of smoke. When they got up, he tried to get them to go out the door to the patio to be outside. The man went into the kitchen and the refrigerator was on fire and smoking. So he saved their lives!”

Murphy (Beagle) was adopted in January 2009Â
“On January 31 this year, I adopted Murphy, a 2-year-old beagle. If I remember right, he was being fostered by a woman named Peggy. I saw Murphy’s picture on petfinder.com the evening before, and couldn’t get that adorable face out of my mind. The next morning, I arranged to meet him; as soon as he hopped out of the car, my roommate, seeing my face, said “well, that’s the dog you’re getting, isn’t it?” It was truly love at first site.
Â
Murphy, as he is still known in my house, is my first dog, even though I have always adored them. He slept on my bed for the first few days, and waking up to those big brown beagle eyes was proof that I had made the right choice. Murphy goes everywhere with us: climbing trips, camping, hiking, boating, and to the coffee shop every day. Right now we are packing for a 4-month, cross-country road trip, and Murphy keeps us laughing by sitting on our bags as we pack (he is, of course, going with us, and I think wants to be part of the activity!).
Â
We live and work in Springdale, and I’m lucky enough to let Murphy come to work with me, where he’s one of two “shop dogs.” He even has a biography on our webpage.
So, I just wanted to say thank you to PAWS for saving every dog and cat they can, but especially for saving my Murphy. If we return to Utah next spring, I hope to be able to give more of my time to volunteer or for fundraisers. And, as my friends and family ask for holiday gift ideas, I’m asking for donations to be made to PAWS, since Murphy really is the greatest gift I could ever get!”
